outline for that BEAUTY!

sueisallaboutquilts 07-23-2010 05:16 PM

That is fabulous! But I think meandering!

LoisN 07-23-2010 05:19 PM

I think outlining.

pab58 07-23-2010 05:21 PM

I'm no help regarding the quilting, but I absolutely love your quilt!!!

jlong 07-23-2010 05:33 PM

It's beautiful and both would look lovely.

KellyK 07-23-2010 05:47 PM

I think a geometric outline with sharp corners would make it look uber modern, while a meander would make it look very traditional and cosy. I would fit the recipient into either category based on their tastes and quilt accordingly.

I think it would look great either way!

I think outline. because of it's geometric straight lines. The meandering I think would make the quilt look out of place because of its flowing lines. Just my opinion. It is very lovely!!!! nice colors too.

I do almost all of mine with a large meander, stipple,FMQ, whatever you want to call it, I think it is the perfect quilting design for 99-1/2% of my quilts.
It is beautiful and you did a great job on it.
Good luck quilting it.

I think meandering ... that's what I do with most of my quilts and they turn out great!

p38flygirl 07-23-2010 06:16 PM

I think meandering..because you don't want to take away from the design..but you want to see quilting

MZStitch 07-23-2010 06:20 PM

I love your quilt. Have you considered straight lines throughout? Perhaps the size of the small white and red small fourpatches. Is that an inch?

littlehud 07-23-2010 06:47 PM

I think I would do a straight diagonal through the little squares. And a pretty motif or meandering in the larger diamond shapes.

annette1952 07-23-2010 06:56 PM

Love your quilt top! Very pretty!

walen 07-23-2010 07:00 PM

I think that I would use a combination of meandering and outline. I would need graph paper to sketch the quilting pattern before I could make up my mind what went where. No matter what you choose, I know it will be beautiful!

wvdek 07-23-2010 07:19 PM

Outlining and shadowing.

jemma 07-23-2010 07:21 PM

not a choice i would like to make---but i would be extreemly happy if any of my quilts looked as good as this one

Beautiful Quilt!

I hand quilted a somewhat similar one going diagonally through the blocks making 'X's.

I would stitch in the ditch if I could sew a quilt like that! It is stunning. Superb use of colors.

dkabasketlady 07-25-2010 06:29 AM

Gorgeous quilt by the way!!

kristen0112 07-25-2010 06:49 AM

Circles. The quilt is beautiful.

tolepainter54 07-25-2010 06:53 AM

Beautiful and I'm not help on the quilting.

BevD 07-28-2010 03:30 AM

Definitely meandering.

KR 07-28-2010 04:27 AM

What if you just did straight diagonal stitching over the whole quilt....in one direction only....and that being perpendicular to the diagonal lines formed by the small 4-patches? If you did that, I think only between the 4-patches where they meet, not through them. The diagonal lines formed by the 4-patches and larger squares is so strong visually that quilting lines in the opposite direction would balance out the movement somewhat.

It IS a lovely quilt and you did a fantastic job on it!!! Karen

I'd vote for meandering, or other FMQ to give the design an extra touch and more texture~
