quilting ideas for this horse quilt top?

1 Attachment(s)
So, after having this panel for well over a year I finally got some inspiration for the quilt top I wanted to make for my mother in law. Now, to quilt it.... I'd like the horses to be enhanced so I was thinking to just outline them and then put some detail in the mane. Maybe something whispy in the clouds/sky? And then stippling in the border? Just looking for some ideas, something brilliant that just isn't coming to me! :) Any input gladly accepted!

How about some swirls around the horses to simulate wind as they are running.

Panels always seem like an easy way to go, but they really are not to me. I always have trouble thinking of interesting ways to surround them. Your idea is great!

I agree with the swirls idea. I made my step-daughter a horse Step'N'Whack a couple of years ago & used it signify wind or their breath or just movement in general. I was pleased with how it looked. Please post again after the quilting is done on this. I know it'll be stunning!

How about echo? It can simulate movement too

Outlinging horses and some quilting on their bodies to outline their wonderful form. Outlining the clouds and their manes would be striking as well. It's a beautiful top!

You did a great job with the panel. Sounds like you and the others have some great ideas on the quilting too! Love to see how you finish it.
