I go to my bookshelf and get out my books on hand and machine quilting designs and look until I get inspiration. Really depends on how much quilting you want to put into it.

Very nice, please post again when quilted.

I would figure out which color I want to stand out and then stipple the colors around it and leave the wanted color untouched...it will puff out and show itself off.
Hope this makes sense. |
I, too, am curious whether you are hand or machine quilting. Sounds like you might be hand quilting since you mentioned it makes your hands hurt thinking about it. Makes my head hurt thinking about hand quilting it! LOL!
I do agree with spinnergs that you should browse until you get some inspiration. It is so beautiful and I am sure anything you choose to do will make it even more so. |
I am a "feather fan", so would probably put feathers where the white is. Depends on if you are machine or hand quilting how intricate though.

Thanks for sharing...beautiful..stipple it with large stitches.

Post a picture when you have finished it. Love the colors great job.

Very nice.
I would do a fairly close curvy stipple on all the white areas with white thread. Then I would do a a much more angular free motion all over, sort of like jagged lighting bolts or free form chevrons on the colored star portions, probably going a shade lighter or a shade darker with the thread color. I have quilted these a couple ways, depending on what you are using it for.
Are you putting more borders on it? I have done a circle feather in outside borders, a half circle feather in the triangles of the backround. in the diamond shapes either a diamond in a diamond in a diamond... or a diamond shaped feather. It is a beautiful quilt. Enjoy. |
