I love all your quilts especially the Jacobs Ladder. Great idea for using up scraps, will need to remember that one. I also lost my sewing mojo back in 2023 and it took me 2 years to finally get back to it. Now I'm on a roll and have finished 12 quilts, some UFOs from 2015, working ont he quilt from hell on the frame now. Even made 6 oversized laps and 2 queen size queens this year, most have been completely finished and gifted. Just got to tell yourself, yes, I'm going to finish these bad boys this year as my goal for 2025. It sure got me moving along. I even have a new quilt project up ont he design wall but can't go back to it until I finish my goal of all the queen size quilts finished completely and out of the house by the end of the year. And I so want to get back to the quilt on the design wall but I'm telling myself I can't until I finish the others that have been sitting around for a number of years. At least I got the oldest one done and gone. Give yourself a goal to pursue and keep to it.

Well done, that's a lot of piecing!

It is irksome when we have the supplies (in my case, more than I should have!) and ability to make something, but just don't want to do it.
You've accomplished an awful lot for a person who is feeling like their mojo has left them. I am impressed! When I don't feel it, I just don't sew; sometimes it becomes a vicious cycle of "I should be doing something" to "NO!! I don't want to!", as I dig my heels in - because this isn't my job, it's what I enjoy - so if I'm not wanting to, why should I have to? A mind game, for sure. I love the batik block. An unexpected fabric in both fabric and color choice for Kaye's patterns. Are the Christmas gifts school colors? The matching quilts was a great idea. And your Jacob's Ladder is my favorite - I'm all about the scrappy ones! |
I sometimes just sew for 15 minutes. It all adds up.

Beautiful! Can't wait to see it when it's finished.

I bought a pattern on line today and printed it. Mojo slowly returning.

As for the girls' quilts.. My daughter told me back in the spring that she and her BFF were going to decorate with blues and grays. She picked the pattern "Winter Stars" by Missouri Star. Their school colors are cardinal red, white and black. Imagine my surprise after I've finally got all the blocks made in August (not assembled) and they've moved in to the dorm that her side is blues, grays and a little purple and her roomie is more pinks, grays and a little purple... all in matching bedding sets. So... now the backs are going to be more reflective of their actual colors. The Jacobs Ladder is an ongoing project. Using scraps inherited from my Granny's stash, fabrics before my batik era and some from my MIL's scraps. It has been my "I'll sew on this when I don't feel like sewing anything else." Of course this is also has to align with when I actually feel like being in my sewing room! |
