Just finished this Connecting Threads quilt for my daughter's new apartment. Don't have the funds to have it longarmed, so I need to quilt it on my home machine. I'm not a free motion wizard by a long shot--more in the kindergarten stage. I've done lots of straight-line and STID quilting. Any suggestions on how I could quilt this? I don't have a clue!

I don't machine quilt so I'm no help but just wanted to say what a cool looking quilt this is! Like the design and colors. :)

I can't help you with the quilting but that is an amazing top!

Love that top!

Do you have any decorative stitches on your machine? I have used those instead of SID.

I would be a little cautious with this design and straight stitching - I would want to keep with the weaving effect, so would only do straight stitching down the orange stripes.

The white squares are calling out for some interest - hearts, flowers, geckos, dragonflies? If you cut out a shape on freezer paper, draw around it with a disappearing or washable marker, that can give you something to 'follow' when quilting - sometimes it's intimidating to have that blank space to fill :)

God luck, enjoy!

To me, this is a SID for sure. I agree with stitching only on the orange -- and use the largest possible zig zag for interest. I love this quilt. Have fun quilting it and keep us posted

I recommend an allover stippling. It's going to be very nice!

This is a gorgeous quilt - no matter how you quilt it!

How about using invisible thread down the middle of the orange and green.

Cute quilt! Could you do a xhatching across the quilt?
