I finally got two of the quilts I've made (quilted by someone else) out of the closet and put them on 2 of our beds. I'm a bit disappointed though. They aren't that warm. They are kind of stiff too. Was it the batting that was used? They seem kind of thin.

Both are beautiful! Scrappies are my favorites, good work.

BEautiful! What kind of batting did you use?
|
very pretty!

Those are beautifal. I love the fabrics. And yes it must have been the batting used.

Wash them. That may make the stiffness go away for you.

Also, you could still back the quilt with fleece for extra warmth, sew it round the edges just behind the binding, and tie it onto your quilt |
They are really nice--why did you have them in the closet? I don't know what you used for batting but I can tell ya I pull up a quilt when I am cold and instantly I am warm.

These are beautiful! I would wash them on delicate in Ivory snow. Also add some fabric softener to the rince cycle. and dry them on med./low setting

Well, since I posted those I might as post all of the quilts I've made so far. The 2 I posted earlier are quilted as is the first one here. The other 4 are just tops. I have 2 more, but the pictures are tiny, so I'm going to take new pictures.
|
I love all your quilts and tops!! One of my kids always tells me that quilts aren't warm enough. I just had one done with cotton batting and it's really warm!
But to answer your question specifically I have used several quilts at times when 1 isn't warm enough. I love layer upon layer of quilts but that's just me. I'm always cold! :D I like the idea of putting flannel or fleece on the backs but don't know how to do it, either. |
Sometimes they will soften up after a few washings :D:D:D
These are all so pretty!! |
Hey, they are cute quilts. Just toss a fleece blanket under the quilt for more warmth. I wouldn't mess with the quilt itself. I find that a high loft polyester batting is warmer than the warm and natural batting. If you are looking for puffy quilts you will need to use a high loft.
