I am chair for the charity of our quilt guild. I make pre-cut block kits and top kits from donated fabrics for the ladies to pick up at meetings. When I get tops back I add backing, batting (the guild provides) and binding then someone else quilts them.
When I have time I make tops also. I average about 18 tops a year for this group. Below are some of the tops I have made in the last 2 months.

Yes, it is. It is a very easy way to do the delectable mountains design. It is about 50" x 42". It took around 7 hours to make. I had a lot of interruptions in the process.

You need a print that is almost as dark on the back as the front and then cut out like you would a kaleidoscope block. Then use half fronts and half backs.

WOW! They all look great!

I get a lot of different panels donated. Frequently a court house steps or log cabin type of piecing works well. Sometimes adding a checkerboard, pinwheels, or other simple blocks makes them big enough to be a larger crib size.

I love all your tops. I also made this pattern (but in green) and would be anxious to see how yours will be quilted, because I really don't know how to do mine.

I'm thinking of doing a clamshell. I recently took Harriet Hargraves class on Hierloom Machine quilting and she said that the clamshell was one of the easiest FMQ designs to do. So I'm going to practice on this quilt.
