Quilts finished up this week

I decided I had to get some of the backlog of quilt tops put together and quilted before I could start on a new quilt (Hunter's Star). Here are two of the ones I've quilted and bound. The binding on the Stars quilt went on the best of any I have ever done--for the first time, I used Best Press on the binding as I was ironing it double--No stretch, no wrinkles. I will never again not starch/Best Press my bindings!

It is red with small white stars. I used a piece of it as part of the backing (which I didn't really show in these pics.)

I get it at our local quilt shop--I bought a gallon (aprox $50.00) and I dilute mine about half and half with water--I use a bit more Best Press and a bit less water. I mix it in a small bottle that had Best Press when I was buying it in smallish bottles.

Beautiful.

Thanks for all the nice comments. The star quilt is my favorite, too. It was one of those quilts that developed as I worked on it--For some reason I had 2 of the center star block--One I did up as a wall hanging. This is the second block that emerged as a full fledged lap quilt.

Great job. I have so many UFO's I think I will just put them on the board and see if anyone else wants to finish them.

malega 11-09-2011 07:31 AM

They are beautiful quilts.

mimee4 11-09-2011 07:36 AM

Both are very nice. I have some scraps that could be used like you did on the second quilt. Great idea.
