They are such lovely quilts and some kids will cherish them I'm sure. I admire the work you are doing, it's such a great thing to be able to bless others. Our ladies quilting group is also making children's quilts for the Lions Club, to be given to children in hospitals. It's such a great pleasure to work for such a cause.
Bless you!!!

For information about the organization, go to their website http://www.quiltsforkids.org. They will tell you how to request a free quilt kit (just sending them an email will do it) or how to make your own. Their address is there, also their phone number if you want to speak to any of the gals. They are all so nice.

If you want to request a kit, you will have to supply the batting and backing.

They always send me the backing in the kit.

Oops - Sorry - yes they do. I didn't mean to say backing - I meant to say binding if you want to bind separately. They send enough backing fabric so that you can bring the backing forward to the front and bind it that way, if you like. Sometimes the backing doesn't look good used as the binding, to my eye, anyway, so then I'll add separate binding. But that is totally optional.

The quilt kits usually make up into 38 x 45 quilts, but you can use your own fabrics to make NICU size if you like. These can be as small as 36 x 36. They are used to cover the isolettes to shield a preemie from the harsh lights. I usually make these in flannel or at least use a flannel backing so the quilt is less likely to slide and slip but it is really up to you. In another post I explained how to contact the group and request a kit.

We might brainstorm some teen themes here. It would be fun and give us all some ideas to help QFK.
I would say skateboarding, snowboarding, NASCAR, space, robots, fishing, real looking jungle animals,...
I am sure all of you have some good ideas.

Thank you for the suggestions - great ideas. They are all on my new shopping list!
