I ordered for myself, three sisters and a niece. when you are signing up it says they will ship multiple kids in same pkg., saves shipping cost. The form asked for names of other people who would be sewing them.
I thought this would give us five a chance to have a sewing weekend at one of our houses. I may have to end up doing all of them because of the holidays coming up. |
What a good idea. I hope you don't have to do all of them. I probably won't start any more until after the holidays. It was fun and I love the fabrics. the only thing I didn't like was machine sewing the binding. I like to machine sew on the binding and then hand finish it. the french binding threw me for a loop.

I cut my binding 1 1/2 in, folded in half and then sewed one raw edge to the quilt with about 1/4 in seam, then folded to back the crease was just right to be along the edge. All I had to do then was turn under a 1/4 in to the inside and stitch down. I used a feather stitch. That is the first time I had ever used the 1 1/2 in strip. I've alway use 2 1/4 folded and sewed raw edges to quilt and had the folded edge to top stitch down.

Folding the binding in 1/2 and then sewing it on makes a much more stable binding that won't fray with a lot of use. I will do that next time, even if I have to use extra fabric.

Wonderfull quilts! Where are they sent to you from?? Is this a program?

Ordered mine last night so I'll be sure to measure before doing anything with it. Thanks for the tip!

You did a great job! I received a kit last week and hope to complete it and one with my own fabric and get in the mail before Christmas!
