Well obviously you laid everything out on the floor so he could give his opinion on the layout. I too have a design adviser like that. It is hard to stay annoyed when they engage that sad-eyes-head-tilt movement.

He needs a job!!!!Maybe he could rearrange your stash:D

he's saying "momma, I didn't do it, I found it this way". he is precious. my cats help with my arrangments all the time, if I lay it out on the floor, the blocks become their own little skateboards to fly across the room on.

There is nothing quite so useful as a closed door.
