jaciqltznok 01-15-2012 05:36 PM

very pretty...and looks oh so snuggly..I am sure she will treasure it!

sassy granny 01-15-2012 05:38 PM

I love the quilt. The colors are very pretty and I really like the blue coming to the front. I'm sure she will like it as well. She will probably appreciate the fact that you thought that much of her to make a quilt even more. Sometimes the unsaid words mean more to a person than the ones said. A word or good deed of encouragement is most times priceless. Bless you

The gift is in the giving. What a thoughtful, supportive gift of love. Let us know what she thinks.

I was wondering that too. I was online literally for hours yesterday looking for beautiful fall flannels like these

QuiltforPD 01-16-2012 06:29 AM

I do love rag quilts. Yours is very pretty and it is like 2 quilts in one with the different color themes!

barnbum 01-16-2012 01:41 PM

She cried happy tears! I don't think I've ever given a quilt that will be used as much as this one will. :-) AND I found fabric for the next one!! Expensive--but gorgeous.

Panchita 01-16-2012 01:46 PM

Absolutely gorgeous!

morelcabin 01-16-2012 02:35 PM

When God tells you someone needs something, and you obey, the blessings on both parties are awesome! So happy to hear you ex SIL is sober and that you can be friends now. The quilt is beautiful, reminds me of autumn on the lake in a log cabin:) And rag quilts really are the best hug a person can give, or get;)

luvstitches 01-17-2012 03:42 AM

Wow, I love it! Love the back too!

We are getting together tomorrow so I can give her some old pictures of her kids I found--that she'd like to have. She doesn't know this quilt is coming. I'm so excited. I made a ragged flannel for her daughter--my niece--for her wedding--and my friend uses it every time she visits. God told me she needed one of her own. :-)

I chose the fall fabrics because it's what is on her daughter's--but afterwards I discovered her favorite color is blue--and she loves the lake, so the back plan changed.

May God bless you both and keep her strong to stay straight and clean.A little incentive just might help her knowing you still care that much.Good luck to you both.

bhivequilter 01-17-2012 05:45 AM

Is the front (fall colors) done in flannel or regular cotton prints? I take it the back is flannel tho? It is beautiful!

KimS 01-17-2012 06:21 AM

That will make a wonderful gift! Congratulations to her! I know how hard staying sober can be because I have a friend who's been that way for almost 2 years now and it's a struggle each and every day. She's going to love it and she'll think of you every time she uses it. :)

anniesews 01-17-2012 06:26 AM

So nice of you to celebrate her sobrity with her. She will love this quilt.

So very thoughtful of you. These are so cozy and she will love it.

MrsM 01-17-2012 07:08 AM

You are a wonderful friend! The quilt is just beautiful!

onaemtnest 01-17-2012 07:42 AM

I think what I love best about this thread is your story behind the quilt! The warmth of this quilt comes more from the fibers of your heart.

The quilt is WONDERFUL, I love the colors and the blue touch on the ragging is so pretty to my eye.

Be sure and tell us "The Rest of the Story" when you present this 'surprise' gift! I can't wait to hear!

gypsylady5 01-17-2012 07:46 AM

Very pretty. Nice fabrics.

WMUTeach 01-17-2012 08:49 AM

Well you listened to God's voice and here desires, I am sure she will love it!

fmhall2 01-17-2012 08:51 AM

I'm sure she will love it, and that is so thoughtful of you. I'm so glad you aren't disowning her since she is an ex relative. That's neat, and I love the quilt.

Gramyx7 01-17-2012 09:10 AM

Love the story behind the quilt... :) congrats to your new friend... ! also i love your quilt great job.

I bought Christmas flannel to make one. I have not made it yet, (on my to do list)..
Question, some people use flannel, and some use batting so it is three pieces per square. Did you use two the front and back or three? Just curious I want to know everything before i make mine.. ha...

great job, love all the colors...

Slow2Sew 01-17-2012 10:20 AM

She's sure to love the beautiful quilt, but her greatest blessing is to have your support and friendship. She's one lucky lady!

rwquilts 01-17-2012 10:23 AM

The quilt is beautiful!!!

MargeD 01-17-2012 10:29 AM

What a wonderful thing for you do to. She has made a couragous step and I'm sure when she's tempted, she can look at the quilt, cuddle in it and know that she is loved.

Pat P 01-17-2012 10:43 AM

How lovely of you to be so supportive. Know it will keep her warm as I just made one for myself, it was so much fun. My DH says it is an electric blanket in disguise. Praying for good things to come to this lady in the future.
