Posting these pics for hpertula123 but hoping everyone else enjoys them as well.
She recently made a similar quilt on white instead of black. I made this one a couple of years ago. I love how it looks, however, the loose threads look messy on the black background and I am not sure it will last well with lots of washings. I had no pattern so it was just a plan that turned out not quite as well as hoped. |
pretty quilt

I love this quilt, even the raggy edges look good. Nice contrast with the black background.

Thanks for the nice comments.
Ronna yours sounds beautiful |
I don't think it looks messy, it looks down right cozy and really comfy to me. Great job!
|
Love the quilt it's beautiful

Do you clip the seams like you do with the other types of rag quilt?
|
Beautiful. I love it on black. Makes the fabrics pop.
|
Nice and colourful. Thank you for sharing.

Wow! I tend to stay towards traditional quilts. That a real eye catcher, the contrast is great. Beautiful work!
|
I really love the quilt, and would be interested in hearing how it hold up during subsequent washings...however, guess that's too far in the future to help right now...think I'll try it.

rainbow looks great --i hate sewing with black can't see it well but boy it gives a great look
|
how much seam did you leave to rag? I'm doing one of animated owls and leaving about 1/8", hoping it will just be fuzzy. a little haircut to get those extra long strings might make you happier with yours ;)

Thanks everyone for being so kind. If I remember, I think the squares were only about 6 inches. The base of the block is solid, the half moons are just set on top of the block and sewn down with a 1/4" topstitch, make sure the stitch length is shorted to prevent it from unraveling too far. so the only part that should fray is the curve. It really is a drunkards path block but no curved seams. I did not clip anything, just threw it in the wash. All the colors were scrap bin stuff, I think the colors are actually bolder IRL, maybe the sunshine faded it. Glad you enjoyed another idea.
