I didn't know that. That's very interesting, rape seed being called Canola. The quilt is really wonderful.

Lovely landscape quilt!

Ladies, nowadays, we know "rapeseed" as Canola. [Can = Canada / ola = oil ]. It is genetically modified, one of the most successful early uses of Genetic Modification. Before the modification of its genetic material, it was not commercially successful to raise as a crop and then try to squeeze the oil out. It could be done, but was too expensive. The genetic modification made all the difference.

All I knew about the rape seed was, it was part of a mixed bird seed mixture, for caged birds, like parakeet and canary.

Very pretty, you did a great job on it.

Nicely done landscape. Love the way the tree on the left invades the border.

Canola oil is made from rape seed. We walked through many of these fields when we hiked England from coast to coast. Never thought to make a quilt featuring them. Great idea.
