a rather wild quilt top...
2 Attachment(s)
I just finished this quilt top, made with two wild fabrics that I requested for Christmas. When the fabric got here, I couldn't help but wonder "What was I thinking?" The fabrics seemed too wild , not at all what I thought they would be.
However, I think I have figured it out. This pattern is Take Five, from Teacher's Pet. If there is a designer other than Teacher's Pet, I can't seem to find it. (I admit that I may no longer have all of the pages of the pattern....) I am actually quite pleased with it. My son says it is a modernistic swimming pool and a quilter friend says it is a modernized ocean. I just like it. I added all the turquoise to try to soothe some of the wild fabric...which I will include a close up of. Thanks for looking. Dina |
Those are pretty fabrics... not too wild for me!

Cute quilt top!

I think it is very pretty, not too wild for me.

Well done! Fun fabric to play with. It's awesome!

Great fabric to my eyes and love the pattern you chose!!!

very pretty

I love the look of this! Definitely not "too" wild, I think it's perfect and open to interpretation! Well done!
|
My kind of fabric, the brighter, and the bolder the better. Your quilt looks great!
|
I, like you, would have said, "What was I thinking". How ever you mastered it! Great work out of some wonky fabrics this all works together as if it were made just for this quilt.
|
What a pretty quilt!
|
It goes together beautifully!

Lovely work. I like your choice of fabrics.

I think you did a great job with the fabrics you had to use. It's not too wild for me.

Oh, I bought a yard of that same fabric because I love the colors. Then didn't know what to do with it. I like the way you used big squares of it with the solids. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words.

I like it, too, Dina! After your what your son and quilter friend said, it looks to me like an aerial view of a water park.
Bright spirals remind me of those mushroom shaped "fountains" at kiddie pools, or poolside cabana, and a square hot tub here and there throughout, with the neutrals being concrete walkways. |
Well I see a little Van Gogh in there...some starry night, perhaps.
Wild fabric for sure but I think you carried it off very well! |

Perfect colors, love it.

I really like the way you combined the solids and prints. Very pretty!
|
I don't think they're too wild at all. I like them.
|
My hubster would like this, said it made him think of swirly marbles. Nice job!
|
Love that wild fabric! It's a great surprise and you created a happy, beautiful quilt.
|
Oh my gosh I love, love, love those spiral fabrics. I saw them on one of the fabric websites and passed without buying. I am sad not to have any but happy to see them in a great quilt. Thanks so much for sharing.

Very nice quilt and you did a great job on it even if you thought it was a bit of a wild fabric. I like wild fabrics like that.
