Why would I make a raven quilt? Because they bring me so much laughter, they are so inquisitive and so talkative, but heaven forbid, do not leave out anything that they can get into, they'll steal you blind!
The Raven is also our territorial bird so they belong to me, LOL. I have recently discovered Cindy Shake Designs (she's Alaskan, we're practically neighbours....if I drive over the mountains and across the border). I must make everything she has created. Here is the first of my journey. (editing to add that in addition to using fusible webbing to hold all the parts down, I also straight stitched around every edge...I thought I would go blind stitching black thread on a black fabric) Berry Button Ravens close up of the quilting label |

I like the ravens--and the quilting!

And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door; And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming, And the lamplight o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor; And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor Shall be lifted - nevermore! Beautiful quilt!! |
Really cute.

Best appliqued Ravens I've ever seen. You have done a great job with this. The design really captures the Raven's charm perfectly. Thanks for sharing your gorgeous quiltlet.
