I really like your quilt. As a new quilter, I have a question. Do the raw edges ravel? I couldn't see the detail on the applique to see what stitches you use. I love applique but am a little apprehensive about the raw edges.

I am not sure this is the first raw edge applique I did and it is a wall hanging so probably won't be washed often. The stitching on the stems is a blanket stitch and the rest is a straight stitch. Some are sewn over more than once.

That's beautiful. I have seen it before and bookmarked it. I think I am going to try it real soon. Your an inspiration.

I love this! My husband made me a table top quilt rack and I am trying to make a block (around 12") for each month of the year to hang on it. This would be great for May!!! Thanks for the info and link.

That is a great wall hanging

k3n 04-27-2011 02:57 AM

Cute and I like your fabric choices better than the pattern! Re the raw edges and ravelling - you FMQ just inside the edge so nothing can unravel back beyond the stitching line. There's no reason why you couldn't use this same pattern and blanket stitch or zigzag though, if you were worried.

nclauri 04-27-2011 03:00 AM

I am a slow sewer. I may work on something for a few minutes and then go do something else, or I may work a few hours before stopping. So with that in mind I was completely done in a week. If you are the type that can sit down and work until you are done you could have this finished in 1-2 days or less probably.
