thanks for the tip

We got 4 phone books in our mailbox the other day. Only need one...so I tore the pages out of the other three, and they go through the printer perfectly. I use a laser (color) printer...and print in red or green...perfect for paper piecing. I like your idea for those little phone books no one can read...have few of those also.

the small books make a perfect size for blocks. This is about 1/3 finished....I'm running out of pink =) Never thought THAT would happen. It goes together very fast when you need some mindless sewing. You don't have to worry about size of strips or seams ~ just the trimming. =)

Love the pink and black. Great recycling idea for the phone books.

I love recycling, that you for a great idea. I love pink and think black would look good with your blocks. very pretty!

I use junk computer paper. Trim 2.5 inches off and it is 8.5 square.

Very pretty. I love the pinks and the black really makes them pop!

My grandkids had a ball tearing the paper off my phone book blocks. They thought it was great fun: ages 5 and 10. Then I let them arrange the "diamonds".

It reminds me of what are called Gazette quilts. The ladies would take the same paper and use it as their size for a paper foundation so all the blocks came back the same size.

Here is a picture of the backside and one of all of the blocks finished. I haven't had any issues with the ink. My hands did get a little dirty taking some of the paper off but I'm not seeing any on the fabric. I am very glad to have all these done! I'm only taking the paper out of the inner rows..saving the outer papers until they are all sewn together.
