Absolutly adorable! I love redwork. Did you do it by hand or on a machine? I'm doing a Christmas rework by hand. Eight squares done, 12 to go. Actually it is going faster than I thought it would. But then I am keeping the stitches really simple. As soon as I can get the software for my embroidery machine I am going to do one with it.

How lovely!

Gorgeous  I have some of those same designs but haven't done anything with them yet. :D

Great work! I have redwork bears to sash together for a quilt. No one to give it to at this point. Just like to embroidery when I grow tired of piecing quilt blocks. :)

Sooooooooooo Pretty, just one more thing I'd like to try! I'll need to live to be 120!

sewjoyce 01-18-2010 05:28 PM

Beautiful! I love it!! What size are your blocks?

MaryStoaks 01-18-2010 05:46 PM

It's machine embroidered, quilted on my Tin Lizzie. The white (embroidered) squares are cut 8.5inches, the sashing is cut 3.5 inches, the border (white on white) is cut 6 inches. I made a double bed size like this with 10.5 inch white embroidered squares and 4 inch sashing. the larger quilt had larger embroidery designs. They go together quickly and the redwork is easy because it's all one color.
I seem to like the simple stuff.

Thanks for the measurements -- I too like the simple stuff :D :D I purchased some of these designs last week and was wondering how big to make the finished blocks...

Simple is great as far as I'm concerned. I can't wait to get my software. My lqs has done some beautiful stuff, but I do love redwork!

What a sweet little quilt! Wonderful job!

Chele 01-18-2010 06:38 PM

How cute! I've always loved redwork. The embroidery is by your machine? You said you made it in a day. If I hand embroidered those cute designs it would take me eons! The designs are very charming.

Honey 01-18-2010 06:53 PM

Chele, I know what you mean about doing it by hand. I've been working on my blocks for 3 weeks and have 8 done. Oh well, it keeps me off the streets and out of the bars at night

MaryStoaks 01-18-2010 07:01 PM

I have to say how much I admire hand embroidery! I can't do it (arthritus) so the best I can do is by machine. I feel lucky to have my embroidery machine, it has the advantage of being fast but is not hand done. It's like machine VS hand quilting, I couldn't hand quilt either. Technolegy makes so many things possible.

Grandma Cindy 01-19-2010 07:50 PM

It is wonderful!

retrogirl02 01-19-2010 08:26 PM

That's fantastic and I love the polka dots, too!

RedGarnet222 01-19-2010 09:20 PM

Oh ... What a sweet quilt. I do love the redwork (bluework too) it is so wonderful. I love that you kept it simple, it shows off the blocks more.
