This was in the lot of items I bought yesterday. I bought a quilters stash and am slowly going through it. This one confuses me. I think it's like a yard of fabric. The selvage reads Redwork Romance by Alex Anderson by P & B. Are you supposed to actually do redwork embroidery over the blue designs? Does the blue wash out? What are the little blue flowers on each design for? They must be some kind of alignment tool? I'm sorry, but this one confuses me! Can someone tell me what this fabric is used for?

Possibly cutting indicators if you wanted to separate the blocks?

Redwork romance is a fabric line by Alex Anderson to be done in either , blue, which you have or red,....yours is to be done in blue embroidery thread......no the lines do not wash out...it`s lovely...

I have several of these and you can color the flowers and then do the stitching.
You don't have to do them in blue work you could use the color DMC threads.

Then shouldn't this line be called "bluework"? ;> I would think the lines would show through, however careful one was with the embroidery?

The redwork panels have red lines...The blue have blue lines...

if you have no plans for the stripes, try washing them to see what happens.

unless you use 4 strands of floss, it's hard to cover all of the line work. i have some embroidery patterns that need dark thread also, because red would show.
i would love to use a light color. mine says "wears off". big deal. so does the thread!

but they are very pretty. have you thought about blackwork? that's very attractive and unusual. the one i saw was quite good-looking. it had both printed and solid sashing.

Color them using what method? I guess thread painting is also an option..
