Relay for life donation

Here is the start of a wallhanging I am making for the relay for life in our area. I am now sewing the strips together I have about 1/4 of it sewn.
Now I need to figure out how to quilt this. It is 41X89 I wish it wasn't so long. I am not sure anyone will have a wall big enough to hang this on. I may have to figure a way to make it into a bed quilt. |
This is absolutely gorgeous!! I look forward to seeing it when it is finished.

I would put on side borders in the purple and black - maybe 4" for one and 6" for the other, giving you another 20 inches on the quilt width. That would make the quilt 61" by 89", almost a good twin, definitely a great throw for a recliner.

Beautiful!!

That is one beautiful quilt. Love the colors and pattern.
it is beautiful- and i agree you should add side borders to make it a *usable* size...as a wall hanging it would have very limited (customer appeal) if it is to be used as some sort of fund raising for relay-
i've made a number of quilts over the past 10 years for relay for life activities- and the ones that are the most popular are twin-to full sized (value wise) queens are popular but it seems like the best (bang for the buck) is with a bit smaller than that. |
That is beautiful. My favorite colors.
Love it, been wanting to try a quilt like this but wasn't sure if the strips went from top to bottom or side to side now I know. Thank you
Wonderful and the colors are so beautiful. I have no idea of how you quilt it unless you can mimic the ribbon shape
Oh My ! That is so very pretty!
Fantastic !!!!
It will be beautiful, I would for sure add the borders as suggested to make it wider. I don't think many would buy it as a wall hanging.
Thanks everyone. I am going to add the borders.
Beautiful. I hope it brings in a lot of money for Relay for Life. Great cause.

Beautiful - I had been wanting to do a bargello maybe this will make me act. Was this from a pattern or book or did you make it up?
The pattern is Ribbon Quilts Pink Bargello Ribbon. I ordered online thru Erica's Sewing and Crafts. It s $11.99 and $2 of the purchase price goes to breast cancer research
what a nice quilt!!!!
Stunning, cant wait to see it finished
that is a cool quilt.

I still have not finished this. I need to get it done by June. I have the accuquilt go pink ribbon die. I went to my LQS yesterday and they suggested using a darker pink border and appliquing some of the pink ribbons using the colors in the quilt. Do you think that would look good? I put it away because I am so afraid just adding a big border will make it look like I didn't want to do any more work on it. You ladies on here are so helpful can you help me understand that it will look o.k. with just a big border. Thanks.

It is a gorgeous Bargello and you have done well with the colour combination! It is lovely. :)
