Hi, a while back I asked some advice on how to remove ironed on photos from cotton because I had used the wrong transfer paper and the photos were cracking and peeling. Well, you were right, it isn't that easy, in fact.... impossible. Soooo, I decided to start the photo memory quilt all over again using the correct iron on transfer paper. BUT, then what to do with the old quilt.. Here's my solution. I simply appliqued a new piece of fabric on top of the block.
photo quilt before (for some reason this looks like two photos... hmmm) photo quilt after (what photos... lol) close up of "new" block |
Very clever way to recycle and reuse what otherwise is a perfectly fine quilt. Good for you!

Oh, so clever. The quilt looks great.

Great solution. :)

Every mistake teaches us something, doesn't it?

Great way to save the quilt.

Beautiful save! ;-)

Great save, I'm glad that it wasn't a UFO!!

Wonderful idea! The first photo quilt I made was for my daughter and s/l for Christmas about 5 yrs ago. I had just finished it when she decided she wanted a divorce. Now the quilt sits in my closet with absolutely no idea what to do with it. Wonderful former s/l signed over his parental rights and has no contact with my grandson whatsoever. In fact, my grandson wants nothing to do with him. So now, I don't know what to do with the quilt...
You did a fantastic job on yours. Maybe I can do something like that with the one I did. |
Great idea!
