Yes, I often quilt like this, but only for simple stippling or line quilting, I don't ever do anything this fancy

I have done quilt as you go once but I did not like sewing the squares together then sewing the flap over but it is nice to quilt smaller pieces. Your quilt is gorgeous as always.

Your quilt is absolutely stunning and lent itself well to the QAYG method. I have done that a couple of times and really enjoyed the freedom of quilting in the smaller spaces. I liked the trade off. Yes, it was a bit time consuming to do the hand work but it was a great trade off on not having to wrestle the quilt in the small harp space. I definitely think the method has its place in techniques to know.

Your quilt is beautiful! QAYG is the only method I use. I have bad shoulders and wrists so I can't wrestle a full size quilt with my machine even though it has a large throat. The quilt I'm doing now is with the no sash method, no hand sewing that Candie's Fabrics has on her site.
