Romon Shade

1 Attachment(s)
I turned this Attic Windows quilt top into a roman shade with Warm Window insulated backing. Made for my sister to cover a VERY cold window that looked out onto a carport. She used to live at the coast but had to move closer to the Veterans hospital so her now disabled husband could get medical care. So I tried to create an illusion that she was looking out the window at the beach.

Perfect!!!!!!

Great job - she is going to be so happy to be able to look at the sea whenever she wants. I am going to have to think about how I can incorporate something like that for one of my windows.

craftycancer 03-11-2013 06:33 AM

Excellent solution for the cold window and a lovely view for your sister. Nice gift! Blessings to her husband.

thimblebug6000 03-11-2013 07:32 AM

You were very successful with your illusion! Looks so nice instead of looking out onto a carport.

dcquilter 03-11-2013 07:40 AM

Fabulous! Love it!

Sewnoma 03-11-2013 09:37 AM

Oh how cool! I love this idea. I love the coast and vacation there every chance I get, I would love to have a "view" like this on my wall! I'm sure she'll LOVE it.

Very pretty!

Hearing the faint sound of the gulls, seeing the ebb & flow over the rocks, feeling the breeze on my face, my feet squishing in the sand. Wonder, where is my sunscreen?
Your sister is so lucky to have YOU. It will certainly comfort her!

I'm originally from Coos Bay....I so miss family, friends, the ocean, mountains, etc. This is an absolutely fabulous window covering.

owlvamp 03-12-2013 05:54 PM

Good idea? It's beautiful.

BEAUTIFUL JOB! Wow, what a great idea for a Roman shade. I love it!

Canada Kate 03-13-2013 05:24 AM

What a clever way to cover up a not-so-nice view. It looks like the seaside to me!

alisonquilts 03-13-2013 05:29 AM

That is so clever, and so thoughtful! (And so well done.)

I may have to "steal" this idea for the window in my husband's study...

This is beautiful. Did you start with a ready-made roller shade?

LadyElisabeth 03-03-2015 02:26 PM

I would love that quilt, the Pacific ocean is one of my loves in life

joym 03-03-2015 03:13 PM

Beautifully executed view of the beach. I know she will love.

No, I sewed my quilt top to the Warm Window quilted roman shade backing that another guild member put on the free table at a meeting. I actually bought a cheap roman shade at a local discount store to harvest the hardware for the top. I also had to buy plastic rings and cording for the back. The Warm Window fabric had directions, you can also download directions from their website. It has been up at my Sister's for two years now, really does the trick to block cold drafts.
