I used one layer of insul-bright and one layer of warm and natural (prewashed)
I had trouble with the layers sliding around while I was quilting it. After a couple of them, I only cut the top to size and everything else larger and trimmed it to the top round after quilting it. I wanted to avoid the "center of the pie" intersection in the middle, so that's why it's quilted the way it is. I'm very proud of my binding join. I even have trouble finding it :) This one is 7 inches in diameter. It's a comfortable size for me, but I have small hands. (Looks like this is a case of "me too" that was such an issue on GCC) Oh, well. It works well as far as being able to handle hot pans. What actually was great to work with was the table protector stuff after I washed it - I was ASTOUNDED at how much it shrunk - I "lost" at least a third of the original area. |
I love it! How did you do the "join" any way? It looks perfect!!!
Hmmm I have never made pot holders. Too cute! |
Oooh, I really like that, Bear. I love the stitching. I agree with Alaska - it looks perfect.

Round is so difficult and you did an amazing job!! Was there a secret to making it look so good? Thanks for sharing Skeat
love it. spray fusible might help the moving while quilting. just a bit would do the trick.
Very pretty, my mom taught me that little prayer when I was very little. Thanks for a great memory!!!
It's a beauty for sure, love the quilting and where IS that binding end??? :D :D :D
well I just couldn't give up till I found it but you're right, it does look perfect, I think the way you quilted it is the best way it could have been done, love it.

Very nice. I think I found where you joined the binding. It really looks nice, and I like the prayer.
Really, really nice!!!! You did a wonderful job on it!! :D :D
That is such a cute potholder and what a wonderful quote. I remember saying that prayer as a little girl.
That is so cute BIG, I'm glad you posted it! And I pressed my nose to the screen to find the join - couldn't! Great job! :D
Looks great! I really like the way you quilted it and the binding looks perfect!
Your potholder is so beautiful!!! Wow does it look great. I like that simple prayer.
That is so adorable -- And how DO YOU make a binding ending like that???
That is really cool!!
Kyia |
how cool is that. i love it
wow, no lumps in the binding (I haven't even begun to master that) and I love the quilting on it!
When my potholders wear out, I recover them with leftovers from quilts and leftovers from binding.
Very nice pot holder and I looked and it is very hard to see your join on the binding but I did search till I found it. WOW that is just fantastic.
Great Job! I love making pot holders and placemats. They are so quick and easy to manuver while quilting. The fabric of a dinner prayer is very nice touch.
nice potholder...
very lovely
It's precious! Do you think "quilting spray adhesive" would have helped with the slippage?
