I'm about to wrap these tablerunners to present to workmates this morning, but am still amazed how different the same patten can look, merely by changing the colourway. I've played with 12"blocks, but that mostly creates positive/negatives of the same shape. It's really noticable on these 2 tablerunners, you wouldn't pick them as being made from the same pattern. I also see where I should have made the 'snake' turn in another direction in order to be more symmetrical. I don't think I wanted that to happen at the time. I'm also pleased that I was able to keep the zig-zag edge that makes them different.
I'm still a beginning patchworker, so please excuse my enthusiasm and awe. bronny pakenham aust 6:55am Leo's Tablerunner Andrea's Tablerunner |

Great job!! One would never know that they are the same pattern
|
The first one is my favorite, I love the colors but both are beautiful. What pattern did you use.
|
Interesting patterns. Lovely work. Nothing wrong with being awed by your handiwork.
|
Thank you everybody.
There is no commercial pattern. I made it up using graph paper and pencils. I don't know of an easy way to describe the placement of each piece to achieve the colourway, otherwise I'd offer a tutorial. I just sandwiched the backing/batting/top, carefully marking where to turn for the zig-zags, stitched, trimmed and snipped, then turned the right way around, pressed and topstitched around the edge. It's not perfect, but they were gifts from the heart, not competition entries. I do appreciate all your kind comments. bronny |
It is amazing how different they both look. Very nice.
