Same pattern but looks are entirely different

Last week, I posted a picture -- click on the link below if you want to compare them-- of a charity lattice quilt for a little girl. I'd like to make a boy's quilt for every girl's I turn in, but unfortunately, I am usually given florals. But this pattern called to me, and had to make this for a boy. I love the floral one, but thought that a solid lattice for a boy would work better. In the photo, right lower side, the block looks pink, but it really is a red background with white stars.

Thanks for looking.

Yes, I think this looks great for a boy. I went and looked at the girly one too and love the fabrics in that. Great work.

I think it looks great for a boy, too! The girly one is very nice also.

Very nice!

Great quilt for a boy. Part of why it looks so different is the lattice being all one color, instead of scrappy in the girl's quilt. Both are lovely!

A great quilt for a boy. Bless you.

Very nice pattern! Looks great in both color ways.

Very nice quilt for a boy. I looked again at you girl quilt and it is so cute.

Both are very pretty.

Hard for me to make boy quilts as I mainly like and buy floral prints and girly fabrics. I use only my fabrics. I buy remnants to add to mine.

Great quilts! A nice pattern for scrappy quilts....for a boy or a girl. :)

Another lovely creation.

Both are great quilts, good use of scraps and you will put a smile on both the children that receive the quilts.

They are both lovely! I love seeing patterns that take on a different look just by a different fabric layout or choice. Well done!

Kudos to you for remembering that boys need quilts too! This one in solids is a keeper! Some lil dude is going to feel really special!

When a pattern calls, ya gotta answer! The one for a boy looks as good as the one for a girl. They both look great!

Ditto. You state my thoughts exactly.

So very cool, I know how hard it is to find designs that suit males but this definitely works! Good job.

Bluebonnets 03-03-2018 11:57 AM

Both are great and the boy one is perfect

Like them both.... Neato pattern!

rryder 03-04-2018 07:40 AM

Wow, It's amazing how different they look! I'm really fond of color, so they both appeal to me, the first because the rainbow effect of the lattice makes it shimmer and the second one because those bright colors are highlighted by the gray lattice. Well done!
