I agree, not a big fan of samplers either. This is a stunning quilt. I like that you used a simple chain between the blocks.

LGJARN52 03-29-2015 05:29 AM

Once again Kudos to you!!! When you said yellow and black, my first thought was a bumblebee quilt. Imagine my surprise when the picture opened. I really love this one.

quiltmaker52 03-29-2015 05:43 AM

That is stunning!

Quilter 65 03-29-2015 05:47 AM

Wow, those alternating blocks really set the pieced ones off wonderfully.

Beautiful! I love this quilt. Your fabric choices could not be more perfect, including that great border, and maybe especially the little stripe sashing around each block. This is one gorgeous quilt. Congratulations!

Beautiful sampler quilt. You did a very nice job on it.

kayluvs2quilt 03-29-2015 01:33 PM

I've always thought samplers would not be something I would like to make...until that one. Wonderful quilt!

That's a great quilt! I love it.

baronreads 03-30-2015 07:22 AM

This is BEAUTIFUL! I'm not a big fan of sampler quilts, but I LOVE this! I think it's the fabric with black spec and the quilting! GORGEOUS!

I actually have a bunch of sampler blocks from a friendship swap that I haven't put together yet. I think they would look SO MUCH BETTER if I offset them like you did. What a great idea! Very pretty !!

mjmachin 03-30-2015 07:56 AM

Why have I not thought of yellow and black!!?? I love love the combination!! And your quilt really brings this out. You did a great job. I love how the sampler blocks are all connected with the other block....really like how you arranged these. Makes this quilt so striking...great job!!

roserips 03-30-2015 08:26 AM

What a wonderful quilt I LOVE the way you used the alternate block to put it together but the use of the narrow strip of stripe ties everything together so nicely. There is a great WOW factor there and you should enter it in some shows.

baronreads 03-30-2015 09:37 AM

BrendaK and anyone else who was wondering, this is from Fons & Porter magazine Jan/Feb, Mar/Apr, May/June 2011. It was put out in 3 parts and is called Civil War Sampler. I just downloaded all 3 issues, but the Setting Block is in Part 3, which is what I was most interested in.
