Samples for a workshop

2 Attachment(s)
I'm giving a talk and workshop in the near future and I wanted to have some samples of easy landscapes.
Most of those who attend a workshop want something they can actually finish so some of the multi day pieces and techniques are out of the question. These 2 pieces, examples of the same style, Collage and Raw Applique worked up quickly and were easily completed on a second day with a few hours.
Any comments?

BizzieLizzie 11-25-2017 10:47 AM

Lovely! Maybe one day I'll give these techniques a go...

JuneBillie 11-25-2017 12:20 PM

Very nice, and I would like attempting one someday.

Maggie_Sue 11-25-2017 12:28 PM

Great samples I am sure they could be completed in the allotted time!! Would love to take this workshop!!!

Beautiful landscape quilts.

QuiltnNan 11-25-2017 01:47 PM

those are lovely. a local gal does lots of white birch, so that doesn't thrill me. so if i were to take the workshop, i'd definitely choose the green trees.

SusieQOH 11-25-2017 02:15 PM

My gosh, you do beautiful work!! I can't imagine doing something like that. Great job!

marilynr 11-25-2017 03:00 PM

Very lovely samples. I would love to take your class.

fred singer 11-25-2017 03:19 PM

lovely work

mucky 11-25-2017 03:25 PM

I like them both and seem very doable

bearisgray 11-25-2017 03:26 PM

Those can be done in a day? Wow!

jlt37869 11-25-2017 09:18 PM

Very nice!

quilterpurpledog 11-26-2017 03:31 AM

Your samples are beautiful. I wish I could be in your class! The techniques look to be fun to do. I made a collage quilt for a granddaughter who lives in Ottawa and it was so much fun to do. You are very talented and it is great that you are so willing to share with others.

jmoore 11-26-2017 04:32 AM

I agree with purpledog, your samples are terrific and I bet you teach a fun class. Nice of you to share your talents with other quilters.

A class in Guelph???? Do tell!!

Actually it's for the Dufferin Piecemakers guild in Orangeville.
If you're not far from Guelph you should consider joining our guild, Royal City Quilters Guild. RCQG. Always room for one more.
PM me if you'd like more info

Both are lovely! I’m not sure of the question you posed...if you’re asking which one is a favorite...I like both and would be influenced by the season for choice. So right now, it would be the evergreens. Is it possible to allow both choices or would that present too many problems?

GingerK 11-26-2017 05:46 AM

Yes!!! I am a member of the Dufferin Piecemakers guild and we are looking forward to your presentation and workshop! I am especially excited since I attended your presentation in Guelph last Christmas. I know which of the two samples I will opt for at the workshop. Your birch trees have always fascinated me. Just hope Mother Nature doesn't throw me a curve ball, since I have a fair distance to travel.

stichinluvr 11-26-2017 06:16 AM

I really love these. I'd love a go at it.

dunster 11-26-2017 07:16 AM

Your work is always so beautiful. I wish I lived nearby and could attend a class.

Watson 11-26-2017 07:30 AM

Darn, too far, especially a this time of year.
Your work is so beautiful.Love both samples, but lean towards the birch trees.

You know, there is nothing wrong with your copying something you see. If you were working from a photo that's what you'd do. When you're trying something new or for the first time examine other's work and try to duplicate it. That's what you'd be doing at most workshops.

Well I'm trying to give you lots of options, catering to different strengths and abilities.

Love your samples and like many others, I wish I could take your class. However, I think the commute from Houston, TX, would be a bit much!

sJens 11-26-2017 04:52 PM

Like them both and sure wish I was going to be in your class.

Anniedeb 11-26-2017 06:04 PM

They are both great....I love the first one.

GoBragh 11-27-2017 05:02 AM

Just lovely! What an artist eye you have!

salederer 11-27-2017 07:22 AM

Love both quilts, but the first one is my favorite. I just finished a very complicated applique. Trying to resize the picture so I can post it. With the last update to windows 10, you no longer use paint.

momsbusy 11-27-2017 07:24 AM

They are both lovely. Your students will have a hard time deciding which one they prefer.

JoyjoyMarie 11-27-2017 07:33 AM

Great samples for your workshop. Wish I could be there - your artistic sensibilities might rub off on me!

solstice3 11-27-2017 10:08 AM

Great inspiration and samples for a task I want to undertake

SallyS 11-27-2017 03:36 PM

Class Samples

They are both great inspirations, and I have done lots of raw edge appliqué -- and taught it, too. Wish you were closer so I could take your class!

carolynjo 11-27-2017 06:13 PM

That workshop sounds like so much fun, but TN is a bit of a long commute! Hope everyone enjoys the class.

feline fanatic 11-28-2017 08:42 AM

I'd take the workshop in a NY minute!

Edited to add that the samples show a quick way to use the technique but I bet the way you teach it will give the attendees the foundation to attempt something more complex that we have grown accustomed to seeing from you.
