Do you have a particular person or bedroom in mind? If you do, I think I'd use a batik the color that best suits that person or room. OTH, if you could find yardage in a similar black batik, that would always work. OR maybe just construct a band of left over batiks for the outer border.

Scakes 01-10-2013 08:31 AM

I love it! I love batiks.

gramquilter2 01-10-2013 09:33 AM

LOVE your quilt colors, fabric and the pattern you chose. Batik is my fabric of choice.

MimiBug123 01-10-2013 10:11 AM

I love it! I don't know about adding a border. I might just bind it in black and call it beautifully done.

marybrace 01-10-2013 10:14 AM

Outstanding!! What size blocks did you use of the D9P?

showmehow 01-10-2013 11:25 AM

Very nice, I was thinking a black border with a small ribbon of orange near the top or bottom third of the black.

nstitches4u 01-10-2013 11:42 AM

Very pretty. I love the bright colors.

Do you need this to be larger? If so, I think a black border would finish it off nicely. It wouldn't even need to be the same black Batik as you have in the squares. Maybe add a skinny flange or piping with short sections of all the fabrics used in the top, placed right next to the binding.

Love your quilt. I like the idea of a black border as well.

QUILTNMO 01-10-2013 12:51 PM

luciab 01-10-2013 12:57 PM

I think it would look super, framed with a border using the centre dark fabric, or something similar, a dark toned one will really make the wonderful fabrics pop. Just love quilt but I am biased as I am a huge D9P fan :)

cowgirlquilter 01-10-2013 02:25 PM

Such a neat quilt!!!!!

Helen S 01-10-2013 02:52 PM

WOW! The fabrics are gorgeous together! I guess you could use just about any of these colors for border and binding, although the black might really make it pop?

Belfrybat 01-10-2013 03:02 PM

That is a stunning quilt. I wouldn't put any border on it unless you need it to be larger. Bind it in the same black you used in the quilt. Or if you need it to be a bit larger, use the black and then bind it in batiks -- pieced together every 18-22 inches.

Auntie Em 01-10-2013 03:06 PM

Love it!!! I think a black border would be spectacular!!!

MargeD 01-10-2013 05:28 PM

Beautiful quilt and beautiful fabric. I think at least a small - 3" or so black border would really set the quilt. It's amazing how simple patterns can really "sing" with the fabrics you choose, but I have always loved the batiks, need to get busy and make my Boston Commons in all batik fabrics.

sewdamncute 01-10-2013 06:42 PM

OHHH, you have a great stash, beautiful quilt! How about a piano key using some of the black as well. Love it!

solstice3 01-10-2013 07:23 PM

Very pretty. It amazes me...3quilts in 10 days,

joyce888 01-10-2013 07:35 PM

Very pretty. I think if you want a border any dark color that you've used in the quilt would work.

DebbieG 01-11-2013 05:53 AM

Id suggest a black narrow border, say cut at 2 1/2" so ends at 2 " and then a wider scrappy border, maybe of left overs....that is one pretty quilt!! How many fat quarters did you start with?? I've also been saving batiks.....

wildyard 01-11-2013 06:31 AM

I think I'd do a black border then bind with a scrappy binding from your leftovers if you have enough.

dahlshouse 01-13-2013 08:33 AM

Beautiful, love the batiks...

quiltingcurious 01-14-2013 05:03 PM

So gorgeous, electrifying! Could you make a border with each of the block's material?

nannyrick 01-14-2013 05:15 PM

That is soooo pretty. Love it.

catladyquilts 01-15-2013 05:56 AM

beautiful colors

#1piecemaker 01-15-2013 05:59 AM

Beautiful!! And so colorful! Terrific job!

lallyann 01-15-2013 01:31 PM

A thin black border (if you have more of what you used for the centers would be nice) and then maybe a piano key using more of the batiks? It's really pretty!

tracibug 01-15-2013 02:11 PM

It's beautiful. Nice work!

Lady Jane 01-15-2013 04:45 PM

Now, that is eye candy!

jojo47 02-15-2013 08:58 PM

I'm a bit late in catching up on the Board, but I sure love this quilt! It is drop-dead gorgeous! I agree with many of the posters in that, unless it needs to be bigger, go with the black binding. I'd also be interested in knowing what size squares you used. Thank you for sharing this lovely quilt!

DOTTYMO 02-16-2013 12:27 AM

I think it just needs a frame, use a border or coloured binding. Beautiful quilt

giquilt 02-16-2013 02:21 AM

I don't think a border is necessary.

What about using black for your border, it would match the small black sq.

I agree. I just love batiks. That is one beautiful quilt top. :):):)

KwiltyKahy 02-16-2013 02:55 PM

My first thought was black for the border, makes the other colors pop.

trolleystation 02-16-2013 08:01 PM

I agree with butterfly48. Black would wonderful.

DebbE 02-16-2013 08:05 PM

That's absolutely wonderful! Use black - anything else would take away from your quilt. Lovely!!

Wildernessties 02-16-2013 08:09 PM

I love this quilt. The black is perfect and the batiks so colorful. I recently made my first disappearing nine and I like that design. Thanks for sharing.

Friendly Quilter 02-16-2013 09:59 PM

Beautiful!!! That looks great using black on the center square, it really made the colors stand out.
