Yes, I do over-quilt, for sure, some of mine end up stiff as a board. Re the amount of fabrics, no idea! , just kept cutting 3 different size circles, elmer glued them on, sewed 1/4-1/2 inch around, on to the background. Then I cut the background in 4, arranged them and sewed together and ragged the seams, its so cuddly and will get even nicer after a few washes! Thanks for all the comments!

That is absolutely beautiful. I usually don't even look at scrappy quilts. Yours is the first one that I have liked. You did a fantastic job.:thumbup:
