Scrap Quilts
3 Attachment(s)
Hi. I have been quietly watching the chats for a while now. soaking in all the information! Thank you everyone. Along my journey of making quilts I always have spares. Spare blocks or strips or triangles. I am a scrap quilter. I buy sheets from good will, I buy only 1 yard of fabric, sometimes 2 if i really like it. Unless it is black or some sort of cream/neutral. Even if I follow a pattern, I use scarps. I make bags and mug cozies. Quilts and more.
This is for photos, So i wanted to share some of the blocks/tops i have made. I know I make mistakes. But I love making quilts. I am on facebook in many groups. Thank you all, all have a wonderful Quilty Day! |
Lovely scrap work! I really love the blue one (first photo). Thanks for sharing.
Isn't it magical to take a scrap and turn it into something beautiful and utilitarian all at once? Keep up the good work!

When I first started my quilting journey I always made coordinated quilts, using only 4 or 5 different fabrics. Scrap quilts started growing on me the more of them I saw. Now I prefer scrappy over coordinated. I like scraps where I am choosing many different fabrics in the same color family, like your pretty blue one, or loads of different colors and fabrics grounded by a neutral and even the grounding neutral can be scrappy. Your pictures are a delightful example of what can be done with scraps. Thank you for sharing them.

good use of scraps

I love scrappy quilts and yours are great. Thanks for sharing and welcome to the Quilting Board. I've made lots of scrappy quilts and my favorite is a crazy quilt I made. Love seeing all the fabrics that I have made into quilts.

Welcome to the Quilt Board!
Love your scrappies! What a great use of leftovers and test blocks! |
Those quilts are lovely and will be even more so when they are finished!
Don't worry about mistakes too much. Many of us subscribe to the notion that "Done is better than Perfect." As for me, the only thing perfect about my quilts is the love I put into them. |
Great scrap quilts! I particularly love the colors in the third photo.
Love your scrappies. They are all so pretty and looks like you have lots of fun making them.
really like your stuff! I like the blue but I also love colors, yum!
Welcome to the quilting board. I "lurk" as I don't have a way of posting pics yet. You do learn a lot from this board. My fabric stash has come from local thrift shops, fabric that has been given to me, and sale fabric. The colors are what I find so I guess that makes me wacky scrappy. You have some wonderful scrappy quilts and orphan blocks.

Beautiful samplers using scraps. You do beautiful work!!
Welcome from western NY and happy quilting :)
Well done!
Welcome to this board.
I love scrappy quilts. I use to make only matchy matchy, was hard for me to make scrappy. |
Welcome to the board. I love your quilts.
I like your quilts with all the colors, nice work.
I really like your approach to scrappy quilts. You have a real skill for organizing your blocks and colors. Enjoy the quilting journey.
Welcome to the QB...it looks like you have been challenging yourself with a variety of different blocks, that’s a great way to learn different piecing techniques. We look forward to seeing more of your work.
Welcome to this board from another “scrapper”. Yours are great!
I love scrappies! Yours are wonderful! I have truck-loads of stash from thrift shops, yard sales, etc. Wish I had the sense to restrict my purchases to only a yard or two! You are a smart lady!!
Lovely work, busy lady!!! You are off to a great start!

Hi everyone! A search for scrap quilts led me to this page. I'm in the process of making a quilt and I'm saving all the cut off corners of the flying geese. They will be big enough to make HST that are 1.5" finished size. I've lost my mind, haven't I? :p
I won't have enough to make a quilt from these scraps alone, but I also collect cotton shirts from the $1 rack at my local thrift store, and I have some strips from other projects that didn't get used. This is the pattern I'm thinking of using, or something similar. I have to finish my current project first . Jennifer |
You've got some fun scrappy projects going there! Great variety of block patterns, and the improv is super!
Welcome Chevymags, love your blue quilt!
Welcome Jennifer, the pattern you have chosen is beautiful!!! |
Welcome from Northern California. When I first started I wasn't crazy about scrappy. Now that I have been at it for a while I have come to really appreciate the scrappy quilts. Your blocks are super. BrendaK

:)Welcome to QB! Don't worry about the mistakes...everyone makes them. Some of us just don't admit it! The second scrappy with the star and radiating swirls looks like it was fun to make. Enjoy the process!
Great way of using scraps making beautiful items!!
You are a quilter after my own heart and fashion!
I enjoy scrappy quilts. So lively. Thanks for sharing.
