Scrappy’s

2 Attachment(s)
For a few years, I’ve been cutting scraps into 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 rectangles and finally decided to do something with them. I had a bunch of white strips of scraps, too, so tried to use them up, as well. I finished these quilts in January and shared on another thread but thought I’d share here. No patterns for these…just winged it.

Great scrappies Teen…I love projects that come together easy.

geevee 02-18-2022 05:47 PM

You 'just winged it' into two super sweet quilts, Teen. :)

Tartan 02-18-2022 06:14 PM

Sweet scrappies!

sewbizgirl 02-18-2022 07:24 PM

Love your scrappies, Teen. Such happy quilts!

sewingsuz 02-18-2022 07:27 PM

You sure did a great job on both quilts. They are awesome

Gannyrosie 02-18-2022 11:47 PM

Beautiful scrappys! I've always done squares on scrappys, though I like these rectangles

LAF2019 02-19-2022 03:54 AM

Making a scrappy quilt look planned and cohesive is very difficult. But you certainly succeeded. Great job!

Lena1952 02-19-2022 04:21 AM

Great job! These are lovely.

WMUTeach 02-19-2022 04:39 AM

Like Gannyrosie, I have seen, and yes made, similar quilts, but with squares. Just switching to rectangles brings a new look. Like the addition of the little churn dashes. Lovely creativity, Teen.

lindaschipper 02-19-2022 05:05 AM

I hope you don't mind if I "borrow" the pattern for the first one? I have a lot of little to medium scraps that would work for this and would be a donation to Project Linus for a pre-teen.

Waal 02-19-2022 06:51 AM

I love both of them. Great job!

Karamarie 02-19-2022 06:59 AM

I love scrappies so really like your projects.

Homespun 02-19-2022 07:09 AM

nice scrappies...I don't own a lot of low volume fabrics.

SusieQOH 02-19-2022 07:12 AM

Two lovely scrappies, Teen!!

EmiliasNana 02-19-2022 07:18 AM

Love how your neutral backgrounds make the scraps pop. Great job.

MamaLinda 02-19-2022 07:34 AM

Wonderful. Especially love the 2nd one.

juliasb 02-19-2022 10:27 AM

These are the best kind of quilts ever in my opinion. Scrappy from the heart. No pattern, just there., Thanks for sharing these beauties.

oksewglad 02-19-2022 11:28 AM

Very nice Teen! I'm a sucker for the shoo fly block so that is my fav..Delightful quilts. Thanks for the idea.

pbraun 02-19-2022 11:39 AM

Looks great! I am questioning my eye's ability to spread out the different fabrics to look as good as yours.

Jingle 02-19-2022 01:59 PM

Absolutely gorgeous quilts. I love scrappy quilts these are Great.

ladyinpurple135 02-19-2022 04:30 PM

Great ideas! Thanks for the pictures - these would make great charity quilts. And cutting into rectangles give lots more options than just squares.

Thanks so much!!

:) When you say you just winged it, do you use graph paper first to get an idea of the pattern. I just love your Scrappy style.

rryder 02-20-2022 07:42 AM

Wow Teen, those are some sweet scrappies.

Thank you! no graph paper….the first quilt I just sewed units of light patch to dark patch and then laid them out in random ways adding sashing until I liked it. The 2nd quilt, I just played with patches for one block…then decided on the shoofly for a secondary design element to get rid of the abundance of white.

Thank you! Just go for it and copy away….I’m inspired by others so, in my opinion, there is nothing in quilting that can be proprietary.

Well done!

Another great scrappy quilt!

I love how you winged them! I wing some or most of mine too, but with this second one you’ve made, I may have to just fly with you and copy your idea. -lol-They both are great though. Five ***** for creativity!

craftymatt2 02-24-2022 11:19 AM

How beautiful they turned out and just from scraps, amazing.

cashs_mom 02-26-2022 07:43 AM

Those are so pretty! Love scrappies!

pennyhal2 02-26-2022 11:14 AM

In hindsight I wish I had kept a fabric scrap from all the quilts I have made. Sort of a trip down memory lane.

cherrybsixty 02-27-2022 09:15 PM

Hello Teen been missing you around the board, glad to see your beautiful work just gorgeous

It was a great idea to precut scraps and save them up until you have enough for a quilt. My scraps are not anywhere close to being quilt "ready." Great looking quilt!
