"Scrappy All the Way"

1 Attachment(s)
A totally scrap quilt. Used up a large bag of strings, yipee. It is very busy but so many sewing memories for my family. Nursery decor, bibs, burp cloths, dresses, quilts, a little bit of everything from the fabric I have sewn from for years. This has been spoken for by DIL who recognizes so many of the fabrics in this quilt.

You're right it's very scrappy (my favorite) but the white gives eyes a place to rest and calms it down perfectly! Job well done! I'm sure your DIL will LOVE it!

I really like the inside border. Gives it a nice break before the piano key border. Wonderful quilt.

Beautiful. I have been working with scraps for months. I got tired of them, Gave a bunch to my Daughter so she can use up most of them.

ArtsyOne 05-11-2017 02:43 AM

Great pattern for a scrappy! The addition of the white gives the eyes a place to rest. Very nice!

I, too, really like that inside border. I would like to see a close up of it and a little story on how and why you did that.

pewa88 05-11-2017 07:46 PM

Mavis, The inside border is made with the half square triangles I got when I cut the corners off after snowballing the string piece units. Clear as mud for sure. This pattern is Twirling Strings. I made it with a string along group that a video blogger did on You Tube. Here is the link to the first video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSz4Zm35M3M

What a wonderful set of tutorials. I watched five of them and will watch number six when I find it. What a wonderful thing to do with those strings. It almost makes me want to create strings to do this. Thanks for pointing us to this.

Gorgeous scrappy!

pewa88 05-12-2017 09:33 AM

Mavis, I really enjoy this lady, she has a very down to earth way about her and does a lot to encourage beginners that do not have many quilting notions, etc. She is also a good teacher

javin22 05-12-2017 12:14 PM

Wow! I have never seen one like that. It is so interesting to look at. Great Job!

Yes pewa, I learned a lot from her and enjoyed it.

Reminds me of the quilts that my grandmother made from the bags of out grown or worn out clothes my mom saved for her to use. Such fun looking for those pieces.

Sync 05-18-2017 03:57 PM

Wonderful scrappy quilt.

cashs_mom 05-18-2017 06:59 PM
