more ways I use scraps

These are blocks I'm making now using scraps of different sizes. I sew material on my leftover warm and natural batting. If you want a 12" square cut your batting at least 13" square. Lay pc. of material right side up on batting and place another pc. of material right side together and sew down one side. Flip open and add another pc. of material right side together sew and flip open. Continue this till you have batting covered even extending some material over edge of batting. Press then flip whole thing over and trim to 12" square. But if you want to add the herringbone stitch on each of your seams, cut a little more than a 12" square ,put on your stitches not going to the very edge of block because you will cut off some of the stitches when you square it up. These blocks are 8x11 squared up. I will put sashing between blocks and between rows I don't know yet how big I will make it

awesome quilt

I am doing the same pattern with lots of blues and greens for the trees and rivers. My trees are slightly off set to make it just a bit different. I hope to finish it this winter as a gift for my nephew who loves the great out doors. I did not foundation piece mine. but bet it would be easy to do it that way.

This is a wonderful quilt. It looks so warm and comfy. And, Debbie, thanks for the links.
I want to make this as a charity quilt, and I'm wondering how to use my new Accuquilt Go to cut flying geese for this pattern. I think all I have to figure out is the size and hope I have those dies. This probably calls for a finished 4" x 2" flying goose, but could also be made with a 6" by 3", I'll bet. What size is your finished quilt? Cricket |
Great one for scraps. Love your earth tones.
