Thanks to all of you! I presented it today and she cried! So did I! It makes me feel really good to know that I can do something little that can help make a difference in the lives of so many. This organization gives a meal to whomever shows up, no questions asked, every Saturday.

knlsmith 02-26-2014 03:03 PM

It turned out beautifully, so glad you were able to remove all the stains, I would have been frantic. Love your quilt and quilting.

quilterpurpledog 02-27-2014 04:41 AM

Jacob's Ladder makes such a beautiful scrappy quilt. Yours is beautiful and I know it will bring a lot of money for the raffle. Thank you for sharing your back story and how you solved the problem. We all benefit from learning how others deal with these near catastrophes. We should all be careful of those red fabrics.

twinkie 02-27-2014 04:53 AM

Very pretty. I had the same experience with a quilt for my grandson. It is soooooo frustrating.

BuzzinBumble 02-27-2014 05:14 AM

cindit 02-27-2014 06:27 AM

Beautiful quilt, but I have a question - did you use detergent either time when you washed the quilt with the 4 color catchers?

Daisy Dew 02-27-2014 06:48 AM

Love that pattern and I like the way you did it, scappy!! It should fetch a good amount for the charity. BTW I really like the quilting.

quiltmaker52 02-27-2014 06:50 AM

Yes, I used detergent both times.

Sorry you had such a bleeding problem with your quilt, that's why I almost always wash my fabric before using it for quilts. However, you managed to avert a disaster and I'm glad it worked out for you. I love the Jacob's Ladder block, as I think it makes for beautiful quilts, table runners, etc., etc. I'm glad that you were able to save the quilt, as it's beautiful. I hope it makes them a lot of money.

roserips 02-27-2014 01:16 PM

Hope they raise a lot of money with your quilt, I love the quilting on it and great save on the running red fabric!

Just made a scrappy Jacob's Ladder block for a swap I am in. Nice to see how it lays out in a quilt. Great quilt design for a scrappy quilt. It has a really nice look.

peaceandjoy 02-27-2014 04:23 PM

It's a beautiful quilt, I'm so glad that the excess color came out. You did a great job on both the quilt and the quilting - I hope that it raises lots of money... I'd buy tickets if you were local.
