This years Barn Quilt Contest's theme in the State Fair of Virginia this Fall is "Leaves." The quilt could not be more than 18" x 18" and had to be pieced, not appliqued. That really limited the choices since I've seen some really beautiful appliqued leaves, but few pieced ones.

I ended up doing a square in a square of a traditional leaf block and named it "Seasons Change."

That's beautiful. I love the colors & quilting. I also like the idea of the leaf within a leaf. You always do such beautiful work & I hope it wins top honors at the State Fair.

I love this block. You are so creative in introducing the theme of color change with seasons and overlaying the fall leaf on the summer leaf. I hope you win a ribbon in the contest at the fair.:o

Thanks... I saw a pattern like this: https://www.shabbyfabrics.com/Assets...orDownload.pdf

...and made a small one for four of the middle squares in the larger one. I did draft it out on graph paper, but I threw the graph paper away already.

It's a Winner. And I love that the Fair said it had to be pieced.
