Secret Garden quilt from a 2001 "Quick Quilts" for my SIL. July 14 she had a basement fire in which smoke permeated the rest of the house. She was in essence getting a whole new house. August 14 she had a heart attack, had a stent, several problems including COPD, afib, etc., but was released the following Monday and passed away within 36 hours. She received the quilt on Monday, and we talked Tuesday night, 6 hours before she passed away. "I love it. Can I used it? Can I wash it?" The quilt will be on display [surprised me ... guess that is being done now?] and buried [which I did request] with her. I used scrap fabrics and some from my mom's stash who SIL knew well. It meant a lot to her ... even if for just a day. I copied some ideas for the label from some board members.

So sorry for the loss of you SIL/friend. What a sad turn of events. The quilt is beautiful and it brought her comfort during her last day on earth, which was its intention. May she rest in peace.
