Your quilt looks great! I hadn't thought about using a wider binding like that. So how much extra backing do you need to make it that wide? Or is the picture deceiving and it is standard binding width? Either way, it looks nice and almost reminds me of a satin blanket binding.

Self binding baby blanket

I am posting the instructions that I received.....& yes I did refer to Missouri Stat Quilt Co.....watched there tutorial on it! U can google self binding baby blanket & it will show the tutorial or go directly to www.missouriquiltco.com & search for self binding baby blanket.....u should have no trouble finding it.....material calls for a 40" square & a 30" square of fabric.....good luck.....& maybe it took me about 30 minutes to make! Hehehe!
