I thought I was going to finish my sons quilt today...NOT...he wanted the Cat in the Hat panel on the back so I ended up making another quilt top...thought it was done...I miss measured the back is 2 inches to short...debating doing another border are cutting it.
here is the back and the front that he designed..I designed the back |
I LOVE IT!!!! A 2 sided quilt......
Beautiful!! If the panel side is to short, I would put a blue border around it. It would match the other side.
adorable..2 quilts in one
@bstock...good idea...I know I have enough blue if I piece them together...its wide enough just not long enough.
I love the Cat in the Hat panel - it has a whole story on it...its so Cool!!
Woo hoo! Love this one!
Both front and back are great! Is the Tumbler blocks the back? It would be easier to insert another row into it.
the tumbler side is the front. That is the one my son designed...he is 27 years old...he wants it for the couch and also when he is off on duty and training. I had made him one a few years ago. One of my first quilts...when I had no idea how to bind...it is really nice and warm but too short. He wanted a quilt that covers his feet and head...this one will. He takes the other one with him to sleep in the car on way to base...or when on the base training...I was thrilled when he asked me to make him another one...and surprised when he requested the Cat in the Hat..Dr. Suess. He still is a kid at heart...Love him...
If the tumblers is the front and it's 2 inches out you can either cut down the border to fit or do an extra wide binding to go further down onto the back?
l like them both....
nice |
Both sides are great so nice to have a son to help design. Mine just shakes his head and says really m ore fabric Mom?I cant say much since he provides my shelter and part of my meals
I am hoping when I FMQ it...that you will be able to still read the story on the panel. I would use a clear thread but had so much trouble in the past when I tried it. I tried several brands and it just kept breaking.
nicely done
I think its terrific, great job, thanks for sharing
Have a Blessed day Ellen |

i have 69 8 1/2 inch Dr. Suess precut tumblers that I am debating on selling. It cost me 12.99 a yard. I would have no idea how much to charge...if anyone is interested let me know. They are very easy to sew.
I sewed a bunch of left over together..added the strip to the top...sandwiched it...FMQ'ing...half done...taking a break...now back to work I go....

I'm not sure which side I like better!
Really a wonderful quilt! I love that your son specifically asked for the cat on the hat theme! I imagine he not only get warm by the quilt but gets a little smile on his face when he looks at it. I am sure it reminds him of home, great job!
very nice job!!!!
make the back fit the front. I think I would cut it down...a bit too much white for me
If you don't have enough of th blue, just use yellow or red. Another border would be perfect. Love the quilt.
Very cute!
How cute is that! Both sides!
Love how your quilt turned out!! Thanks so much for the updates!!
That CAT is still inspiring kids today. Love both sides.
Can't beat a two for one! Great job!
