Great idea for going to a class or retreat. I always mark 'my stuff' with my name but it still seems to walk around. Making a mat with the clear plastic pockets is a good idea. I have been thinking of making one like the bed pocket idea; I think the clear plastic pockets will be incorporated.

I was searching how to make one of these. This one is better than other patterns I found. I love the clear pockets.

I like the idea. But have a question. ?
If there is no rubber on the bottom, does the machine move around on the table, or does it not matter?
Thanks for sharing.

Great idea, Nancy! I have a square twister topper I never gave away because I was not happy with the colors. Think i will make myself a mat. I have never used plastic. Is it a special product for sewing? Thanks Sharon

great job and a great way to keep your aunt in your thoughts.

Doesn't all that stuff hanging in front get in the way? I know I would have a problem with it.

Very nice mat and what great memories you will have every time you use it. Also love the plastic see thru pockets-what a great idea. Is this what we call "recycle"??

Bobbielinks 05-14-2017 07:51 AM

thanks, sharon. i bought the plastic many, many years ago in the sewing section by the yard. so i guess it is for sewing. the wrapper showed many utility uses for it.

i don't find it to be in the way at all. it sits higher than my lap. and i still have room to the side for my knee lift bar

It's really nice. My daughter made one for me. I have a plastic table also.
The problem I encountered with it was when I tried feeding a quilt or any long fabric into my machine. The mat got in the way and puckered with the fabric.

An excellent idea and something every machine should have. Happy memories for you.
