Sewing Quilts Weekend !

4 Attachment(s)
I have just arrived home after a 4 day long weekend at our fishing cabin in the highlands. The autumn weather was superb, sunny days with very cool early mornings and evenings.

What I like most about these weekends is the amount of sewing I can get done while hubby is out fishing or pottering about doing odd jobs.

I had already done the blocks for the first two quilt tops but hadn't been able to get them pieced together. Well they are now at this stage but the first quilt I have decided to add a thin border and then a whole row of blocks around the outside before it is quilted. The second quilt is ready to be quilted as this one won't have a border, just binding.

I also managed to get the blocks started for my next scrap quilt. The rest of the blocks for this one will be done when we are back at the cabin in early June.

Oh and that's me feeding a kangaroo at a local zoo which we visited with a friend and her little children over the weekend.

I like the quilts but I couldn't see any kangaroo's. Glad you were able to get so much done. BrendaK

Great vacation! I can see that you really planned ahead before you left on the trip. You planned to get things done and you were very successful. Beautiful scrappy quilts. Sounds like fun trip and great relaxed fellowship.

Where did you find that unique pattern on your third quilt? What a great way of making a dent in one's stash.

Great progress on some very pretty quilt tops!

Got an idea from a pic I saw on Pinterest. It is just one block that I am foundation piecing and there will be a white 3inch sashing in between each row. I will post another pic when the quilt top is completed.

This kangaroo actually lashed out at me with his front paws after I pulled the cup away but these ones in the zoos and wildlife parks are quiet and love being fed. At our fishing cabin, there are so many wallaby (small kangaroo) which come in close to our cabin just on dusk so we sit on the verandah and watch them. Over the past couple of years a huge herd of deer have joined in roaming past early mornings and evenings and I love seeing them. Seeing a Tasmanian devil in the wild/bush is rare though, we can occasionally hear them growling in the distance but have never seen one. We do however have a wombat living quite comfortably under our cabin and we hear him or her 'come home' in the early hours of the morning.
