My sister and bigger nieces (10 & 12) came to see our new quilter. The younger of the two (10 yr old) is already thinking of what she could do with it. "So I could make a quilt top and you could finish it?" At Christmas, my brother and DSIL gave the girls a sewing machine and my mom and I gave them fabric and fat quarters and sewing baskets full of goodies. The younger niece got right into it and made a simple quilt while they were here during their Christmas break. The next generation of quilters is definitely in training!

How wonderful to pass on your love of quilting. You can see they are totally engaged with the process.

Congrats on your new quilt machine! It's wonderful how your family all coordinated gifts for your nieces last Christmas. It's wonderful when members of the younger generation are interested in carrying on our love of quilting.

Now I'm really jealous to see someone so young learning to LA>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Just kidding LOL.
|
Yup! Gotta start them young!
Now it's in their blood! Have fun instructing them as they move on to more projects! Bless you for taking the time/patience to allow them to use your LA!!!! |
It is so wonderful to see that you are pasting on your love of quilting  I wished I have someone to teach me when I was her age.
|
They look very intent. Glad they like to sew at their age. It's fun to share a passion with younger relatives.

I was surprised to see how much interest my oldest niece took. Let's just say, she was less than thrilled with her sewing themed Christmas presents! But, running the LA is Sooooooo much fun, even she couldn't resist!
On a side note, my littlest niece (3 1/2 yrs), in whose basement the machine is set up, was NOT happy about me running the LA machine. She cried and cried until her daddy, my brother, finally took her upstairs. I think she just got a little time out in her room, but her attitude was completely adjusted when she came back down! I think it was about having auntie's undivided attention because she did pretty much the same thing earlier in the day when I was practicing the piano for an upcoming wedding rehearsal. It didn't matter where she was in the house, she came crying and hollering if she heard me playing the piano! |
Such special times ahead for all of you. Enjoy every moment!
