I am a lover of Batiks. These are ones I got for $4 a yard. I'm also showing one of the things I'm going to make with some of the fabric. I know I'm going to make a zip strip quilt also. This type of quilt will show more of the designs the fabric.

Still more

Love your batiks. It took me a while to catch the bug but I'm finally adding them to my stash. Haven't yet made anything with my batiks yet. I'm still sorting through the various ideas. Thanks for your input.

mgshaw 04-10-2009 08:04 PM

I'm drooling, help!

What marvellous colours! The floral stained glass should do the fabrics proud.

grammo013 04-10-2009 09:17 PM

I am so jealous lol. I have a love for batiks and your collection is the best I have seen. Wish I would find a sale like that. I pay 9.99 and get really great ones to. But only could buy a few at that price.

Have fun with them.

Beautiful colors. Just starting to get into Batiks myself. The flowers are going to look great. Can't wait to see what a zip strip quilt is????

Knot Sew 04-11-2009 11:54 AM

batiks are about 8 to 10 around here...those are beautiful, especially the multi color in the first one :D

user3587 04-11-2009 12:34 PM

Zip Strip is the name of the pattern, from the Fun & Done Quilting technique. The reason I want to use it is because the strips are large but not straight. There are 6 strips per block. I want to see more of the pattern on the batik fabric. There are probably other patterns that would work and I may change my mind, it's been known to happen. There's nothing fancy about the pattern so I think the batiks will take center stage instead of the design. I hope you can see where I'm going with my ideal. I have such a tendency to go for batik that I don't give other fabrics a chance. I really need to deversify.

amma 04-11-2009 03:40 PM

I couldn't type my response until I wiped all of the drool off of my keyboard   Those are ALL beautiful :D :D :D They will be gorgeous in the stained glass blocks :D :D :D

That's about what we pay too, depressing isn't it!

$4US works out at about $7NZ.

I am currently working on a batik sampler quilt. I have found that I am a hopeless batik addict. Ever since I got my hands on the first few yards, I haven't been able to stop buying it....and I'm not kidding. I really love your colors!!! I haven't done a stained glass look yet, but have looked at them A LOT lately.....Oy!

barnbum 04-11-2009 05:27 PM

I still don't know abut the zip quilt. Waiting to see one!

user3587 04-14-2009 04:50 PM

No not from a yard sale. Thequiltingcottage.com back around Christmas had them on sale for 4.00 a yard. They are having a sale know but they are 6.49 a yd. They only have about 10 colors left. I'll never find a deal like that again. I had some extra money (I wonder what that it) and spent it all on the batiks. I have a enough of each except for the bright orange to do several projects. Anymore if you see something you just have to have you better jump on it because in a day or two it will be $2 more. I've never seen prices of things go up some quickly and its not just a cent or two, it's a dollar or 2 at a time. I purchased some towels to embroidery for a couple of children's baptisms in Jan or Feb. They were $5 each. Last week the same towel was $7.
