More practice with half square triangles! I saw this on Friday's episode of "Simply Quilts." I cut the strips an inch less than they should have been, so I had to adjust things... Next time, I'll pay better attention!

Chele,
I'm very impressed. That's something I've looked at and been afraid to do. Your colors are wonderful as always! We really must go shopping together someday!!! I'll buy everything you buy!

Pam Pollock 02-18-2008 01:26 PM

Chele, That sure is pretty. Love the colors! Thanks for the link.

Very pretty Chele,
i also seen that program on Friday, and was very excited about the idea of making that. I printed off the pattern on friday and am wanting to get to try it.

Beautifully wild!!

barnbum 02-18-2008 01:53 PM

Oh that it awesome!! How big is it?

quiltmaker101 02-18-2008 01:54 PM

You go, girl!

Nice job! Are you going to add more borders to it, or is it a table topper?

I love how you just whip something together once you have seen it. No stalling.

Chele 02-18-2008 02:01 PM

Thanks everyone! Mine turned out 26" x 26", but if you cut the strips the right size, it finishes out to 40" x 40"!

I think I'll use this to practice machine quilting. Then it can be a wallhanging or table topper. Or, I could add some more borders! :?

barnbum 02-18-2008 02:07 PM

Chele--on the directions--under "sorting squares and making combinations" it pairs up same pieces together. It reads "two of each of the following: 3 + 3, 4 + 4...."

How can that be?

Help me.

Chele 02-18-2008 02:11 PM

That kind of confused me too! But, yes, you piece those together as well! I guess to get the whole diamond effect. You could use a single square, but I really stink at figuring out measurements like that! LOL!

barnbum 02-18-2008 02:14 PM

Well, upon closer inspection (the info is so small!!) I do see where there are blocks of the same color. Tsk--such a strange way to spend my time cutting apart fabric only to sew it back together, well the same color anyways!. But I bet you're right--it contributes to the effect.

henryparrish76 02-18-2008 02:26 PM

WOW! I love it! I am going to put this down on my list of things to try:)

jbsstrawberry 02-18-2008 02:27 PM

Chele!! That turned out great!!! As usual, I absolutely love your colors! Thanks for sharing the pattern too! One day, not today or in the near future, I will definitely kinda sorta try another star  :D LOL

sandpat 02-18-2008 03:32 PM

Sigh...another project for my to-do list.. Yours turned out great..even if you think you messed up...NOT

Minda 02-18-2008 04:03 PM

Chele, Love it. Great colors. I've been wanting to do one like this for awhile, but have just never gotten to it. You're inspiring me!!!

Steve 02-19-2008 02:21 PM

Interesting coincidence, I was just watching the very program earlier today and was wondering if the procedure was as easy as she claimed it was? What do you think?

estherblair 02-19-2008 03:43 PM

This is aGREAT pattern i've used it three times first made by pat. the other two i enlarged, i just couldn't do a diamond lone star . i like this one alot. And yours is greattttttttttttttt

Chele 02-19-2008 03:52 PM

It was a very easy pattern, and I'm a beginner. I want to try it actual size and I bet I could get more of those points to line up! Try it, you'll like it! :D

bj 02-19-2008 03:56 PM

I watched the show too. After seeing yours it is definitely on my list for the near future. I'm wondering if the star could be extended out beyond 5 fabrics without losing the effect of the pattern. Hmmmm. I guess it's time to get out the colored pencils and grid paper.

mary705 02-22-2008 03:09 AM

Great choice of colors, very awesome work.

thimblebug6000 02-22-2008 07:06 AM

Thanks for sharing the link, I don't get that show here. jbs......it's a star pattern alright, but none of those pesky 6 or 8 points to try & lay flat in the center.....could be fun!
