Such a cool idea! Is there a pattern we can follow??

MoanaWahine 12-06-2011 04:30 AM

I love it. I just finished up an apron made from the back of Bib Overalls. I need to finish up the one that comes from the front and then I will post some picks. Love what a person can make out of items from the closet

Polly, that is so cute. Did you have a pattern for that? Would you be willing to share with me how to do that? I have four granddaughters and one grandson and I think that would be adorable for them. Thank you, Sandyb

What a great idea, I have two shirts here I bought for DS's and neither wanted to wear, mind you they were from Value Village, so this is a perfect idea. Thanks for sharing. I was out roaming the thrift shops last week, had I known about this then, I would have bought a tuxedo style shirt. Oh well, now I have a reason to go back.

heyuitsme 12-06-2011 04:01 PM

brilliant! I really need to make one for myself! I always end up so wet after doing dishes, worse than the kids. lol

Jammin' Jane 12-06-2011 09:10 PM

How creative!!!

jeaninmaine 12-06-2011 09:53 PM

I just love this apron, it terrific. You could even cut the rest of the shirt into squares and strips for in a quilt.

snicktrain 12-06-2011 10:43 PM

What a great idea. I could use some of those.

My computer has been down - AGAIN - I could read comments, but could not respond, so I hope those that asked for the pattern see this response.

I saw this on Pinterest, couldn't get the pattern, but what I did was as follows: 1) cut off back and sleeves leaving the side seams on the front, or you can leave a little bit of fabric beside the seams to turn under (see #4). 2) Cut in a straight line from the shoulder seam by the neck down to the side seam, skimming the sleeve seam - should be about an inch or so down the side seam. 3) Turned under and siz-zagged the cut from the neck to the side seam. 4) Overcast the rest of the seams in some manner to prevent raveling. 5) Decide how deep you want the pockets. I cut the sleeves off about 1/2" above the placket, turn under a seam allowance and press. 6) Pin or baste to shirt front. 7) I cut pieces of the left over fabric from the sleeves to make the ties, or you can use ribbon. You can go wild decorating these!

If you have questions, you can PM me, and I will try to help.

Have fun. Polly
