Got a new book - "Paper Pieced Mini Quilt" by Wendy Vosters Published my Martingale & Company (That Patchwork Place)

I was supposed to be working on my Grandson's birthday quilt today but it's not due 'til March so I took a little break! Ha! Here's what I made. I only had to unsew a few little seams.

It will finish at 7 1/2" X 8" and I'm supposed to use the 'birthing method' to finish it. I couldn't wait to share though so you get to see it as just a top.

My husband thinks I'm crazy and then asks what I'll do with it. I quickly told him it would not be a pot holder! :-o

so beautiful. i love the fabrics you chose. what a fantastic job you did. is it hard to work in such a small scale??

jacquemoe 01-23-2008 08:09 PM

That is tooooo cute. I'm near sighted and I'd probably need magnifying glasses to work on that one. Great job!

Paper piecing makes it pretty cinchy! I did end up ripping a few seams out but not too bad. I am ready to do a few more now. Just think, a whole quilt in an afternoon. If I'd started in the morning I'd have it quilted now too!

That's a pattern I hardly ever see anymore. I doubt if my eyes would handle teeny quilts, so I'll just sit back and admire yours.

VERY sweet! Love that!

Celeste 01-24-2008 12:52 AM

That is so cute! What is the birthing method?

Oh my, I think they would be pushed down the needle hole, that would certainly try my patience. Yours just looks good........just amazing. :D

Very cute! I too, love your fabrics. Nice work on your paper piecing. Everything looks so precise!

That's pretty amazing!!! I love anything miniature, but that is really is amazing! and beautiful!
You could always really play around with hubby and tell him you're making mini quilts to decorate a Doll House. When he asks who's you can tell him "Mine of course, I've decided to take up a new hobby. Oh and by the way, I'll be needing the check book."

Thank you everyone!
I'm here to tell you there are no small pieces when you're using the paper piecing method to make these minis. You don't use a small piece of fabric just a reasonable size. After you sew the chunk-o-fabric to the project then you trim it back and eventually it becomes miniscule! If you can see to stitch on a line drawn on a piece of paper you can do this. Trust me! I don't think I'll ever try to make one of these without using PP!

jbsstrawberry, You are positively evil! I like it!

Well, if you don't want to decorate a doll house, you could always give me the 'quiltlet' to use in my doll house. :-)

I like it a lot!

Dawn Hendrix 01-24-2008 01:45 PM

How cute is that !!! Great Job!

This quilter's board has such nice people, always there willing to help! That's okay though, Lisae. I think I'll just hang it on the wall with a couple more. It'd probably be to large for a doll house anyway.

My second mini quilt.
I am taking breaks from working on the big blue quilt!
This new mini will finish at 5.5" X 7.5" just slightly smaller than shoo-fly.

Minda 01-29-2008 05:12 PM

Yvonne,
I love the scrappy look of your second mini. They are both so darn cute, and your work is beautiful.

barnbum 01-29-2008 05:46 PM

That is amazing. Don't tell anyone you didn't work with tiny pieces!! Admirers don't need all the facts. Just smile sweetly.... :D

Celeste 01-30-2008 12:40 AM

They are so cute!

Tiffany 01-30-2008 10:16 AM

Very, very pretty. Good job pp. I have tried that and just can't seem to get the nack of it. I imagine practice makes perfect.

Have a good rest of week.
