Show Ribbon Quilt for Sue
2 Attachment(s)
A couple of years ago, a good friend ask if I could make a quilt out of her show ribbons (earned showing her wonderful mules). Not being one to back down from a challenge, of course I said, "yes", and she brought me a Rubbermaid bin of ribbons to work with.
Here are a few pictures of the result. The center is a threadwork portrait of Eddy, one of her mules, done on brown batik fabric. I learned a lot about working with show ribbons, but most importantly that I'll never do it again! |
That is gorgeous, and I'm sure you put a lot of time and thought in to it. Your friend will certainly cherish
your blue-ribbon talents! |
I remember when you first posted Eddy. It was a joy to see it then and now again. I have heard some absolute horror stories about working with show ribbons. One was that they tended to get very hard once ironed. You did a fabulous job with this.

Whoa! VERY nice.
Like you though, doubt I'd ever want to do that... much less again. :D |
Well done! I remember your awesome thread picture of Eddy. Did you sew through the ribbons or overlap them?
