You did a fine job with this. Is this silk stable enough for bed use? I was told that the older ones were never intended to be used on beds. They were often draped over pianos. My mom put one made by my great great grandmother on my bed when I was a teen. It fell apart.

I was thinking along the same lines. Have you heard of a "Grandpa's Whisker Cloth"? If I planned to really use it as a quilt I would sure add a Whisker Cloth to it, and use batting and backing that can be dry cleaned. I might be wrong, but I thought they did not get batting, just something heavier for the back.
