Simple Bargello Footsteps in the Sand quilt for my daughter's 30th birthday
2 Attachment(s)
I just finished a quilt to give my daughter for her 30th birthday. She has really developed into a beautiful person and has deepened her relationship with Jesus. I thought this quilt would be a perfect reminder for her as a young working mom, that Jesus is always there for her.
The wave border was sort of an experiment. I didn't want to leave it plain and I'm not an experienced FMQer yet. I went online and found a wave border design. I made a drawing and a stencil. Then stenciled it to the quilt. It turned out pretty good for my 1st attempt at FMQing. I knew my daughter would like anything I gave her so I wasn't as intimidated by it as I thought I'd be. After a while it was kinda fun. Wasn't working on a flat surface, just using my 301A and a FMQ foot. No silicone mat, FMQ gloves, halo or all the other stuff to do a really professional job, but I think she will like it anyway. |
She will love it. What a lovely reminder that Jesus loves her. You have to keep telling yourself that we look at a quilt as a whole. We don't inspect every little stitch. You will become more comfortable with the free motion the more you do. Of all the things you named, the silicone sheet is my favorite. I put it on, didn't notice a difference, took it off and then I noticed the difference. Now the quilting is my favorite part of making a quilt.

It's such a beautiful quilt! And the meaning behind it even moreso. I love the colors you used and the pattern how it represents our steps with Jesus. He really does NEVER leave our side.
